Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in pharmacy operations, with experience in, critical care, and clinic settings. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to patient care by providing accurate medication dispensing, supporting medication administration, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The Pharmacy Technician will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient service while maintaining the highest levels of professionalism and technical proficiency.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately in accordance with prescriptions and pharmacy protocols, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques.
- Assist pharmacists with medication intake, inventory management, and medication reconciliation processes.
- Support patient care activities by providing medication information and ensuring proper medication administration procedures are followed.
- Maintain meticulous records of medication dispensing, storage conditions, and documentation required for compliance with regulatory standards.
- Ensure the proper handling of medications in acute care and hospital environments, adhering to safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate timely medication delivery and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to prescriptions.
- Assist in training new staff members on pharmacy procedures, safety protocols, and technical skills necessary for effective practice.
- Uphold the principles of aseptic technique during compounding and preparation of sterile medications to prevent contamination.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a pharmacy technician, preferably within LTC pharmacy or clinic settings.
- Critical care experience is highly desirable, along with familiarity with medical terminology relevant to acute care environments.
- Knowledge of medication administration processes, including IV infusion preparation and aseptic techniques.
- Strong patient service orientation with excellent communication skills to support patient care activities effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to manage intake processes accurately while maintaining attention to detail under pressure.
- Certification as a pharmacy technician from an accredited program is required; licensure or registration as mandated by local regulations is preferred.
