Pharmacy Technician

Pontiac Hospital Pharmacy is seeking a motivated, experienced pharmacy technician to join its growing team. We are an independent retail pharmacy located in Mclaren Oakland Hospital looking for the right candidate that will be a positive addition to our team by providing excellent customer service and patient care. The ideal candidate accurately and efficiently completes all assigned tasks, communicates professionally and effectively with patients, staff, and medical providers, and is committed to quality and accuracy.

General Duties and Responsibilities: (Pharmacy Tech)

• Expedites prescription processing by performing all duties necessary and allowable by federal, state, and board of pharmacy rules and regulations while within the applicable laws pertaining to dispensing prescriptions by assisting the pharmacist on duty in a retail pharmacy setting.
• Accurately bills insurance, counts and labels each prescription with the correct item and quantity.
• Ensures necessary communication with patient or caregiver related to medication instructions and refers all necessary clinical questions for consultation with the pharmacist on duty
• Processes incoming drug orders, restocks shelves, prepares overstock and expired drugs for return, as well as reports any discrepancies to the pharmacist
• Maintains active state licensure and reports any formal complaints or disciplinary action immediately

Requirements: (Pharmacy Tech)

• One year of experience in retail pharmacy
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current valid full Pharmacy Technician License (Michigan)
• Three references one of which is a pharmacist
• Pass a criminal background check and drug test as allowed by law
