Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques.
- Assist with medication intake, verification, and documentation to ensure proper medication administration.
- Support patient service initiatives by providing clear information about medications and addressing patient inquiries with professionalism.
- Maintain inventory levels, restock supplies, and ensure proper storage of pharmaceuticals in compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to facilitate medication orders, updates, and patient care plans in acute care and hospital settings.
- Follow strict protocols for aseptic technique during compounding and medication preparation to prevent contamination.
- Utilize medical terminology effectively to document prescriptions, procedures, and patient interactions accurately.
Skills
- Proven experience as a pharmacy technician with a strong background in LTC pharmacy or hospital environments.
- Critical care experience is highly valued, especially in acute care or ICU settings.
- Excellent patient service skills with a focus on compassionate communication and patient care.
- Knowledge of IV infusion procedures and aseptic techniques to ensure safe medication preparation.
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to pharmacy operations and healthcare documentation.
