Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques.
  • Assist with medication intake, verification, and documentation to ensure proper medication administration.
  • Support patient service initiatives by providing clear information about medications and addressing patient inquiries with professionalism.
  • Maintain inventory levels, restock supplies, and ensure proper storage of pharmaceuticals in compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to facilitate medication orders, updates, and patient care plans in acute care and hospital settings.
  • Follow strict protocols for aseptic technique during compounding and medication preparation to prevent contamination.
  • Utilize medical terminology effectively to document prescriptions, procedures, and patient interactions accurately.

Skills

  • Proven experience as a pharmacy technician with a strong background in LTC pharmacy or hospital environments.
  • Critical care experience is highly valued, especially in acute care or ICU settings.
  • Excellent patient service skills with a focus on compassionate communication and patient care.
  • Knowledge of IV infusion procedures and aseptic techniques to ensure safe medication preparation.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to pharmacy operations and healthcare documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing intake processes, inventory control, and medication administration records.
