Pharmacy Technician

Duties

  • Prepare and dispense medications accurately, including IV infusions and aseptic preparations for critical care and LTC settings
  • Assist pharmacists with medication intake, verification, and medication administration processes for hospitalized patients
  • Maintain meticulous records of medication dispensing, patient interactions, and inventory management
  • Support patient service initiatives by providing clear medication instructions and addressing patient questions with professionalism and empathy
  • Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, medical terminology standards, and aseptic techniques during all pharmacy procedures
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to facilitate timely medication delivery and optimize patient outcomes in acute care environments
  • Perform routine pharmacy tasks such as stock replenishment, inventory checks, and documentation of medication usage

Qualifications

  • Proven pharmacy technician experience with a focus on LTC pharmacy or hospital settings
  • Critical care experience highly preferred, with familiarity in managing complex medication regimens in acute environments
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, aseptic technique, and IV infusion preparation
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent patient service and support patient care initiatives
  • Experience with medication administration processes within hospital or acute care settings
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for intake procedures and medication record keeping
  • Certification as a pharmacy technician required; additional certifications in sterile compounding or IV infusion are advantageous
