Summary
Deliver Pharmacy Medications to patients’ homes. Based at one of the various outpatient pharmacy locations each day and rotates as needed. When not delivering, assists the pharmacist(s) with filling prescriptions, prescription data entry, controlled substance processing, cash register duties, inventory and stocking.
Major Job Functions
The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:
Ensures timely delivery of Specialty and non-specialty medications to patients’ homes
Responsible for obtaining payment, offering counseling, and appropriate documentation of required activities during each delivery
Responsible for ensuring that all medications are checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing
Maintains and protects at all times the right to privacy of all patients and hospital employees
Promotes positive patient and co-worker interactions
Reports and/or corrects safety hazards to immediate supervisor promptly
Responsible for cash register, balancing end of day report, and delivery of deposit
Assists in data entry and filing as required
Correctly fills prescriptions, returns items to stock, and pulls expired medications
Assists with inventory control including vials, bags, and other supplies as needed
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Registered with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP)
Maintain national certification (CPhT) preferred
Effective communicator, ability to accept constructive criticism and learn new skills, and ability to adjust to varying workloads.
Must have five (5) years licensed driving experience in North Carolina or the equivalent. Driving record check with law enforcement agency required.
Must maintain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License and be approved by Risk Management to drive a company owned vehicle. Must maintain this approval by following the company policy on driving a company vehicle.
Must be able to see and read physician orders and medications labels
Must have manual dexterity to run computer and cash register, and process prescriptions
Ability to freely move about pharmacy, parking lots, driveways, etc.
