Pharmacy Technician I: Pharmacy

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • This is an entry level Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern position.
  • Responsibilities include providing service to customers coming to the pharmacy, answering telephones, assembling floor stock medications, refilling Pyxis machines, transportation of medications to and from nursing floors and departments, pre-packing and labeling medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Performs floor stock inspections.
  • Performs timely and accurate delivery of controlled substances to patient care areas.
  • Performs Pyxis override and ED audits.
  • Prepare anesthesia drug trays and operation of the TraySafe system, prepares emergency drug trays and crash cart replenishments independently according to pharmacy law.
  • Performs home medication information collection in ED and on nursing units.
  • Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A working skill in general mathematics and familiarity with drug nomenclature and/or medical terminology preferred
  • Fulfills mandatory stroke education requirements per certification agency
  • Intern: Current enrollment in an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy preferred.
License Required
  • Technician: California Board of Pharmacy Technician License (TCHRX)
  • Intern: Pharmacy Intern License (INTRX) or California Board of Pharmacy Technician License (TCHRX)
