PHARMACY TECHNICIAN II – MEDICAL ONCOLOGY

Day/Evening 8-hour shifts, every third weekend

Job Description:

The Pharmacy Technician II serves as a technician for the area of specialty. Mentors’ new hires in area, assesses performance of other technicians in area, assesses quality of service, and plans performance improvement activities. Provides education and training to others. May be assigned other projects and routine duties as appropriate. The Pharmacy Technician performs accurate and timely preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products and associated functions, under the supervision of a pharmacist. Performs multiple technician job duties of the Pharmacy Department including clean room, cart fill, repackaging, inventory, automated dispensing cabinet, outpatient, first dose, clerical duties, chemotherapy preparation, and carousel.

Experience/Qualifications:

• Knowledge of organizational and project management practices normally acquired through completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a health-related field, pharmacy and computers beneficial.
• A minimum of two years of Pharmacy experience.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification required within 6 months of hire and maintained.
• Must have and maintain a clear performance record without any corrective actions.
• Provide at least one director approved education event to pharmacy staff per year.
• At least one of the following criteria.
• Staffs clean room many shifts per year – maintain competency as required by Pharm 797 and documented in Simplifi.
• Will staff cancer center most shifts per year – maintain competency as required by Pharm 797 and documented in Simplifi.
• Staff as an alternate in the outpatient weekday Buyer position on a regular recurring basis.
