Overview: We are looking for a full-time in-office dispensing pharmacy technician to focus on prior authorization and financial assistance. Monday - Friday, daytime schedule (no holidays).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Receives electronic prescriptions; obtains prescription coverage and other pertinent information from the patients; enters data in prescription processing system to create a patient profile and determine insurance eligibility.
- Selects medications from stock for preparation; counts, pours, or mixes pharmaceuticals;

places pharmaceutical products in appropriate containers and affixes labels to containers;

packages and sets up delivery of pharmaceuticals to other clinics.

Works with other healthcare professionals if patient information is unclear to accurately
-
process prescription claims.
- Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), assists in contracts and
-
contractual requirements for filling the prescriptions. Keeps up to date with all payor changes and communicates with applicable staff.

Assists with resolving patient billing complaints, i.e., Annual Medicare Deductible.

Maintains accountability for day-to-day patient reimbursement activities, workload and
-
overall workflow.
-
Assists patients and/or their responsible parties with questions regarding billings.

Performs job duties and responsibilities in compliance of payors.

Works on patient's behalf to identify and assesses patients’ responsibilities for those with
-
insurance coverages and to coordinate and/or investigate financial options for those
-
without insurance coverages.

Assists billing department regarding outstanding balances and unpaid prescription claims.

Performs various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, correcting and
-
resubmitting claims to third party payers.

Monitors, follows up with, and records all insurance re-authorizations required by payors
-
to ensure compliance and continuity of treatment.
- Provides excellent customer service to all patients and medical professionals.

Preserves confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) and adhere to all HIPAA
-
guidelines/regulations.

Prepares and submits necessary documentations (such as prescription hardcopies, patient
-
signature logs, invoices, etc.) to payors when audits are requested.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Professional demeanor and courteous attitude.
-
General knowledge of in-office dispensary laws, practices and procedures.

Knowledge of brand name drugs and their generic equivalents.

Knowledge of common medical terms/abbreviations and in-office dispensary calculations.

Knowledge of insurance and third-party billing systems.
-
Must be able to prioritize and work in a fast paced environment.

Ability to respect confidentiality of patient data.

Knowledge of medical safety standards to assist in manufacturing and working with pharmaceutical substances.

Ability to read and interpret prescription information.

Proficient mathematical skills and is able to calculate mediation doses and dispensing quantities.

Must be able to type and work on a computer.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Internet with basic computer skills.

Knowledge of reviewing and completing Health Insurance Claim Form.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Some travel may be required.
Education and/or Experience:
-
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
-
Minimum 1 year of retail pharmacy technician experience is required.

Minimum 1 year of retail in-office dispensary experience preferred.
-
Oncology background preferred.
-
Specialty pharmacy claims/billing background preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
-
Registered pharmacy technician licensed to practice in the state of Arizona.

Certified pharmacy technician through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.

Valid driver’s license
CPhT Required.
