Hostos Community College Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Pharmacy Technician Instructor to educate and train students in pharmacy technician programs. The instructor will be responsible for delivering curriculum, providing hands-on training, and preparing students for certification and careers in pharmacy settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pharmacy operations, excellent teaching abilities, and a passion for student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that align with program objectives and industry standards.
- Teach and demonstrate pharmacy procedures, including prescription processing, medication safety, dosage calculations, and inventory management.
- Prepare students for certification exams (e.g., PTCB or ExCPT) and provide guidance on exam preparation.
- Assess student performance through assignments, quizzes, exams, and practical evaluations.
- Provide individualized support and mentorship to students to enhance learning outcomes.
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and attendance in accordance with institutional policies.
- Collaborate with colleagues and program administrators to continuously improve curriculum and instructional methods.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as accreditation standards.
- Facilitate externship placements and coordinate with pharmacy partners when applicable.
Qualifications:
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with active certification (PTCB or ExCPT).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a pharmacy technician in retail, hospital, or other pharmacy settings.
- Prior teaching or training experience preferred but not required.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in pharmacy software, prescription processing, and pharmaceutical calculations.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students to succeed in their education and careers.
- Familiarity with adult learning principles and instructional best practices.
- Associate degree or higher in a related field preferred.
Work Environment:
- Classroom and lab setting with hands-on training opportunities.
- May require occasional travel for professional development or externship coordination.
- Flexible schedule, including evening or weekend classes, may be required.

Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour
