The pharmacy technician position is responsible for preparing medications for patient consumption under the general supervision of the licensed pharmacist and in accordance with departmental procedures. This job operates in the health care setting. It requires standing and walking to storage shelves and filling counter to fill prescriptions, as well as the out window for customer service for the duration of the shift. Scrubs or business casual dress is required.
- This position is part-time and scheduled on an as-needed basis. A minimum commitment of two (2) days per week is required, depending on operational needs. Candidates must be flexible with scheduling as additional shifts may arise. Work schedules will be provided well in advance to ensure adequate notice.
Performs duties assigned by the licensed pharmacist. Areas of work are routinely checked for quality control.
Assists the patients by greeting them in person and on the phone, answering questions and requests, and referring inquiries to the pharmacist.
Maintains inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory levels, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and removing outdated drugs.
Maintains a clean and safe pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
Processing prescriptions, including validation of the prescription, interpretation, data entry, processing through insurance, and filling prior to the pharmacist final verification.
Maintains records by filing prescriptions in accordance with the federal rules and regulations.
- In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon MMH needs or requirements.

Prior retail pharmacy experience
Pharmacy technician certification and medication knowledge are all preferred.

MELISSA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL: Melissa Memorial Hospital is a 15-bed critical access hospital, located in Holyoke, Colorado. While being “rural” we are equipped for any situation. It is a model rural hospital with 1 operating room, surgical procedure room, 4 bay emergency room, and radiology including 64-slice CT scanner and mammography, MRI, ECHO, and Nuclear Medicine, along with other ancillary services. The hospital is co-located with a family practice clinic and retail pharmacy services. Other services include chemotherapy, general & orthopedic surgery, podiatry, cardiology, orthopedic surgery, progressive rehab services, and wound care. MMH operates a full-time EMS service and maintains a 24/7 AirLife Helicopter base.
