Pharmacy Technician (PRN)

Job Summary

Under the direction of a pharmacist, the pharmacy technician performs pharmacy-related functions, in compliance with department policies and procedures that provide optimal pharmaceutical care.

Compensation

  • CPhT - $25.25/hr + DOE
  • PRN Differentials
  • Shift Differentials

Essential Functions, Duties And Responsibilities

  • Rotate through all work areas of the pharmacy
  • Prepare medications and supplies for dispensing, including:
  • Repackaging bulk medications
  • Sterile IV compounding including chemotherapeutic agents
  • Non-sterile compounding
  • Prepare prescriptions for outpatients
  • Operate Automated Dispensing Cabinet – stocking, auditing, troubleshooting, reporting, manage outdates
  • Deliver and maintain medication inventory in nursing units and clinic locations
  • Maintain and audit controlled substance inventory
  • Maintain medication and supply inventory in the pharmacy
  • Support medication bar code system
  • Assist in training new employees
  • Assist other pharmacy technicians
  • Coordinate insurance billing including third party prescriptions
  • Triage telephone/window inquiries.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment.
  • Displays professional attributes including but not limited to, punctuality, professional demeanor and presentation; cooperation with peers, other healthcare workers and patients.
  • Actively participates in Performance Improvement.
  • Accepts accountability for own actions.
  • Support of 340b program operations and compliance

Additional Responsibilities

  • Floats to other departments as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS (Required)

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent degree.
  • Valid state pharmacy technician in training certificate for State of Montana.
  • Must obtain pharmacy tech certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Ability to treat all information as confidential.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous experience in hospital pharmacy, not required
  • National certification required.
  • Valid state pharmacy technician registration (required in some states).
