As the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, you will be responsible for performing activities relating to and supporting the coordination, training, and supervision of individuals within assigned area of responsibility. Duties and responsibilities of this individual will include supervision, support, and compliance of activities related to the practice of pharmacy as a pharmacy technician. This includes preparation, compounding, packaging, storing, recording, processing, dispensing, labeling and delivery of medications and pharmaceutical supplies. The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor may also provide functional supervision of Pharmacy Technician Trainers, collect and or/record metrics, quality and/or surveillance data, and develop and implement process improvements
Provides day-to-day supervision and manages the activities of pharmacy technicians. Responsibilities include supervision, support and compliance of pharmacy technicians preparing, compounding, packaging, storing, recording, processing, dispensing, labeling and delivering medications and pharmaceutical supplies. Ensures all department procedures and policies are followed. Employees in this classification supervise three or more full-time equivalent employees every week. Direction is over a permanent status-continuing function, not a collection of employees assigned to complete a project. Management duties include interviewing, selecting and training of employees; setting and adjusting their rates of pay and hours of work; planning and directing their work; appraising their productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in their status; handling their complaints and grievances and disciplining them when necessary. Management responsibilities include the authority to hire, fire, or promote assigned employees or make recommendations that are given particular weight. Employees may spend time performing many of the same duties as subordinate employees. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.

What Benefits can you Look Forward to?
The State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) requires all Pharmacy Technicians to be licensed. The new regulations allow for a one-time temporary license for up to 1 year, during which time a Technician must successfully complete requirements to become certified and meet all other State of Michigan requirements for a Full Pharmacy Technician License. UMHS Pharmacy Department provides coaching and additional information to support Technicians to become certified and licensed.
