Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general supervision of the Director of Laboratory/Laboratory Manager and the direct supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor or designated Lead Medical Technologist the Phlebotomist provides clinical laboratory services to patients in accordance with Departmental and Hospital standards of care.

What you will do in this role:

• Prioritizes activities of self-based on demands for service.
• Maintains own professional growth through the utilization of professional organizations, in-services, workshops, seminars, and other self-directed learning activities.
• Completes annual safety in-service of Laboratory personnel necessary for CAP accreditation.
• Maintains awareness of current developments and trends in the provision of clinical laboratory services.
• Maintains awareness of current Hospital and Departmental operational policies and procedures which impact on position responsibilities.
• Alert to the detection of errors in own work and the work of others with appropriate corrective actions initiated.
• Actively participates in Departmental meetings with a focus on providing input regarding improving the quality of patient care services in the Department.

What qualifications you will need:

• Completion of an approved Phlebotomy Training Program.
• Must have a BLS certificate from the American Heart Association
