Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for procedures by explaining processes clearly and ensuring comfort throughout blood draws and dental treatments
- Collect blood samples accurately using proper aseptic techniques, adhering to infection control protocols and HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Assist dentists during various procedures, including chairside assisting in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and other specialties
- Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners to capture high-quality images for diagnosis and treatment planning
- Manage medical documentation by updating electronic health records (EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Epic), ensuring accuracy in medical records and coding
- Maintain a sterile environment through infection control practices and proper sterilization of instruments
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow as a dental receptionist, and verifying insurance information
- Take vital signs and perform basic medical assessments to support comprehensive patient care in both medical and dental contexts
- Assist with pediatric dentistry procedures, demonstrating patience and effective communication with young patients
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dental assisting or medical assisting within a clinical setting, with knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; experience with medical coding and documentation is highly desirable
- Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures in both dental and medical environments
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners with precision
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics
- Basic proficiency in vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and chairside assisting techniques
- Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in fast-paced settings involving general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, or pediatric dentistry
