Phlebotomy Lead Instructor

Position Summary

The Phlebotomy Lead Instructor is responsible for providing instructional leadership, delivering high-quality phlebotomy instruction, and ensuring the Phlebotomy Technician Program is implemented in alignment with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and industry expectations. This role oversees course delivery, supports adjunct faculty, ensures competency-based student learning, and maintains a positive, engaging, and professional learning environment that promotes student success and program retention.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Classroom Leadership

  • Deliver course content through classroom and laboratory instruction in accordance with the approved curriculum and course syllabi. Evaluate student knowledge, skills, and competencies through exams, practical assessments, and clinical skill check-offs. Maintain a positive and professional classroom environment that supports student success and engagement. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support academic and professional growth.

Program Oversight & Curriculum Management

  • Ensure course content, instructional materials, and competencies are current and aligned with industry standards and certification expectations (e.g., NHA CPT).
  • Participate in curriculum reviews and recommend updates to reflect regulatory, clinical, and industry changes. Maintain program records, student documentation, gradebooks, and attendance in compliance with institutional and accreditation standards.

Faculty Collaboration & Instructional Support

  • Mentor, support, and provide guidance to adjunct or part-time phlebotomy faculty to ensure instructional consistency. Conduct onboarding and assist with periodic training for faculty to ensure alignment with instructional expectations, clinical skills, and student assessment standards.
  • Assist in coordinating faculty schedules to ensure sufficient instructional coverage.

Student Success & Advising

  • Monitor student progress, attendance, and performance; implement intervention strategies when needed. Provide academic advising and support to students, including tutoring or skill remediation sessions as needed. Uphold student policies, professionalism expectations, and clinical readiness standards.

STATE CAREER COLLEGE

Clinical & Lab Coordination

  • Ensure lab supplies, equipment, and instructional resources are available and maintained.
  • Support the Clinical Coordinator in preparing students for externship placement by verifying competency readiness. Assist with clinical site communication related to curriculum expectations, student preparation, and feedback.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure program delivery aligns with State Career College policies, ABHES accreditation standards, and state regulatory requirements.
  • Support documentation and reporting needs during audits, accreditation visits, or program reviews. Participate in Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings and contribute to program evaluation and improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy or related clinical experience
  • Certification in Phlebotomy (e.g., CPT, RPT, CCMA with Phlebotomy, or equivalent)
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Postsecondary diploma or certificate in a healthcare field
  • Teaching, training, or preceptor experience in a clinical or academic setting

Preferred:

  • Associate Degree or higher
  • Experience in curriculum delivery, student assessment, or instructional leadership
  • Prior experience working in an accredited postsecondary setting (ABHES, ACCET, ACCSC, or similar)

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
