Phone Staff / Front counter Associate

We are seeking an energetic and friendly Phone Staff / Front Counter Associate to join our dynamic team! In this role, you will be the first point of contact for customers, providing exceptional service both over the phone and in person. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a welcoming environment, ensuring smooth operations at the front counter. The ideal candidate is motivated, organized, and passionate about delivering outstanding customer experiences in a fast-paced food service or retail setting.

Core Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming phone calls promptly and professionally in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Take accurate customer orders for carryout, delivery, and dine-in (if applicable), including all details such as pizza sizes, toppings, crust types, special requests, sides (like garlic knots or salads), and beverages.
  • Provide menu information, answer customer questions about ingredients, specials, promotions, and pricing.
  • Recommend or upsell additional items (e.g., add garlic knots, drinks, or desserts) to increase order value while maintaining a friendly, helpful approach.
  • Enter orders correctly into the POS system/point-of-sale terminal to ensure smooth preparation by the kitchen team.
  • Process payments over the phone (credit/debit cards) when required, handle cash transactions for pickup orders, and provide accurate change.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff, prep team, and delivery drivers to confirm order timing, special instructions, and any potential issues.
  • Handle customer concerns, complaints, or modifications politely and efficiently, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including the phone area and any related counter space.
  • Assist with light additional tasks during slower periods or as needed, such as greeting walk-in customers, packaging orders, or basic side work.
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and company policies while delivering excellent customer service.

Secondary Tasks

  • Greet and assist walk- in carry out customers
  • Bag/ pack orders for Pickup or Delivery
  • Fold pizza boxes or help with minor prep during slow periods
  • Handle cash transactions for in-person customers
  • Maintain a clean and organized phone station / front of the house eating area
  • Assist with light cleaning or side work when call volume is low
  • Maintain a fully stocked soda machine

Experience

  • Previous experience in food service, quick service & fast food restaurant, café, or retail environment preferred
  • Familiarity with POS systems such as Clover POS highly desirable
  • Experience in cashiering, upselling, and customer service roles demonstrates strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques and food industry standards is a plus
  • Ability to handle cash accurately and perform basic math calculations confidently
  • Prior experience working in a restaurant or grocery store setting is beneficial
  • Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during busy periods
  • Basic understanding of sanitation practices, food safety regulations, and proper food handling procedures
