This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Photo Engraving Branch (Washington, DC Facility). As a Photoengraver (Electronic Pre-Press), you will employ a variety of electronic publishing software applications, digital hardware (e.g. computers, cameras, printers, etc.), and other related skills to produce the highest quality pre-press products and services to support the BEP's mission to produce banknote currency trusted worldwide.

I have provided pre-press or photographic services without more than normal supervision, requesting supervisory assistance as needed. I am able to apply digital techniques to generate pre-press assignments using electronic publishing software and hardware.

Physical Requirements:
Job requires hand and eye coordination, prolonged walking and standing, intermittent light to moderation lifting, simultaneous mental and muscular coordination, and good eyesight and ability to perform appropriate functions in various lighting conditions. Work may require energetic arm movement when plates are processed by hand. In addition, the work requires frequent lifting and carrying of platemaking materials weight up to 23 kilograms (50 pounds).

Category rating will be used to rank and select eligible candidates. If qualified, you will be assigned to one of below three quality level categories depending on your responses to the online questions, regarding your experience, education, and training related to this position.
Gold (highest quality category - score of 90 or better) - highly proficient with an overall comprehensive level of knowledge, skills, and abilities of the job.
Silver (middle category - score of 80-89) - Has a solid and comprehensive understanding. Can perform the required tasks efficiently and is proficient in applying the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position.
Bronze (minimally qualified - score of 70-79) - an overall basic level of knowledge, skills and abilities of the job.
