The Prepress Operator plays a key role in creating visually compelling designs that communicate messages clearly and effectively. This position requires an individual who excels both independently and as part of a collaborative, creative team. The Graphic Designer is responsible for producing high-quality print and digital artwork across various platforms, ensuring that designs align with brand guidelines and meet client expectations. This position requires a strong eye for design, an understanding of visual communication, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Supervisor: Prepress Manager
Design Creation & Execution:
- Print Design: Design a wide range of print materials, including vinyl, banners, signage, and other marketing collateral, ensuring alignment with client specifications and brand guidelines.
- Brand Consistency: Ensure that all design work adheres to established brand guidelines, maintaining a consistent visual identity across both print and digital channels.
- Conceptualization & Creativity: Take ownership of projects from concept through execution, including initial brainstorming, ideation, and the creation of design mock-ups. Translate creative ideas into visually appealing and effective designs.
- Graphic Editing: Use design software Adobe Creative Suite to manipulate, edit, and refine images and other graphic elements.
- Template Design: Create and maintain templates for recurring design needs that can be used by other team members or departments.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other designers, marketing professionals, and project managers to ensure that design objectives align with business goals and client expectations.
- Client Communication: Interface directly with clients as needed to gather design specifications, communicate concepts, and revise work based on client feedback.
- Cross-Department Support: Partner with the sales, marketing, and content teams to ensure that designs align with strategic initiatives, campaigns, and overall messaging.
- Creative Feedback: Actively participate in design reviews and creative discussions, providing constructive feedback and suggestions to other team members while accepting and applying feedback to improve designs.
Project Management & Timely Delivery:
- Project Prioritization: Manage multiple projects simultaneously while prioritizing tasks based on deadlines and client needs. Ensure that all designs are delivered on time and meet quality expectations.
- Timeline Management: Ensure that all design projects are completed within the required timelines. Communicate any delays or obstacles to relevant stakeholders and make necessary adjustments to meet deadlines.
- File Organization: Maintain a well-organized library of design assets, including image files, fonts, and templates, for easy access by other team members or stakeholders.
Design Quality Control & Revision:
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all designs are high-quality and free from errors, paying close attention to detail in typography, layout, and color usage.
- File Preparation: Prepare final files for print or digital distribution, ensuring all specifications (e.g., file format, resolution, bleed, color settings) are correct before submission to clients or production teams.
- Revisions & Feedback: Incorporate client or team feedback into designs, making revisions as needed while ensuring the final product meets the project’s goals and objectives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with preflight tools or automation software is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of printing processes and color management is desirable.
- Highschool Diploma or equivalent trade experience.
