I. KEY RESPONSBILITIES:
A. Curriculum Development and Implementation:
- Develop and deliver a well-structured physical education curriculum aligned with CBSE guidelines, catering to students' level, needs and abilities.
- Refer HPE manual for CBSE guidelines.
- Plan, organize, and conduct physical education classes for different age groups, ensuring the inclusion of various sports and fitness activities.
B. Sports Instruction:
- Teach students the fundamental skills, rules, and strategies of different sports, providing both theoretical and practical instruction.
- Be an active player on the ground.
- Organize and supervise sports training sessions, practices, and drills to enhance students' physical abilities, coordination, and teamwork.
C. Talent Identification and Coaching:
- Identify and nurture students' talents and interests in specific sports disciplines, providing additional coaching and guidance as needed.
- Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to track students' progress, providing constructive feedback for skill and performance improvement.
D. Contests
- Create annual calendar for sports contests: inter-class and inter-house for each grade.
- Create details of each contest – rules, rubrics, judges, participant lists and results .
E. Inter-School Competitions:
- Organize and oversee inter-school sports competitions, ensuring compliance with CBSE guidelines, and fostering healthy competition and sportsmanship among students.
F. Team Selection and Preparation:
- Assist in the selection and formation of school sports teams, conducting try-outs, and preparing teams for participation in various events and tournaments.
G. Record Keeping and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of students' participation, achievements, and progress in HPE activities. Prepare reports for school administration and parents.
- Fill in assessment card as mandated by CBSE.
H. Promotion of Sports Culture:
- Promote a positive and inclusive sports culture by encouraging students of all abilities to participate, fostering a spirit of fair play, and emphasizing the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship.
- Foster a positive and inclusive culture of health and fitness, encouraging students of all abilities to participate and emphasizing the importance of lifelong physical well-being.
I. After School Programs:
- Coordinate after-school programs to provide additional learning and enrichment.
- Create a supportive and engaging environment for students participating in after-school activities.
II. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or a related field.
- A postgraduate degree in Physical Education is desirable.
- Qualified and certified as a Physical Education Teacher by a recognized institution or board.
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of different sports, rules, and coaching techniques, with expertise in at least two or more sports.
- Familiarity with the CBSE curriculum and guidelines for physical education.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Ability to plan and organize sports activities, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Experience in coaching and training students in various sports, preferably in a school or educational setting.
- First aid and CPR certification is a plus.
