Job Purpose
Responsible for leading the design, development, and management of enterprise-wide physical data models across the bank. Also ensure that the conceptual and logical models are in alignment with the physical model strategy to ensure scalability, performance, and consistency of data structures aligned with business and regulatory needs. also enforces modeling standards and collaborates with cross-functional units to govern all physical data representation in the bank’s data ecosystem.
Job Description
1. Lead the design and maintenance of scalable physical data models across all domains in the bank.
2. Govern physical data structures and ensure alignment with logical models and business requirements.
3. Optimize physical models for performance, storage efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
4. Define modeling standards, patterns, and metadata practices to be applied enterprise wide.
5. Review and approve all modeling changes, ensuring integration with ETL/ELT, DWH, and Data Platform.
6. Collaborate with data architects, engineers, and application teams to ensure model usability.
7. Own the physical modeling repository, version control, and modeling documentation.
8. Accept, review, and validate all mapping sheets received from business or analytics teams prior to implementation by the data integration team, ensuring alignment with physical models and standards.

9. Participate and recommend improvements to policies, processes and procedures and manage their implementation to ensure all relevant legislative/procedural requirements are fulfilled.
Day-to-day Management
10. Supervise the day-to-day operations of the team providing some guidance in the related area, encouraging teamwork, innovation, recommending new approaches and facilitating related professional work processes in order to achieve high performance standards.
11. Liaise with internal and external parties at the appropriate levels to ensure smooth flow of interactions.
Supervision
12. Supervise the activities and work of subordinates to ensure that all work within a specific area is carried out in an efficient manner and in compliance with the set policies, processes and procedures.
Compliance
13. Ensure compliance with all relevant CBE regulations, banking laws, AML regulations and internal AAIB policies and code of conduct in order to maintain AAIB’s sound legal position and mitigate any potential risks.
Requirements
Proficiency in SQL, database performance tuning, normalization/denormalization strategies, and understanding of data warehousing concepts.
Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams, clear communication skills and leadership skills.
