Physical Therapist

Location: On-site (Morristown, New Jersey)

Contract Type: 13‑Week Assignment

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Physical Therapist (PT) to join the Inpatient Rehab team at Morristown Medical Center. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a large acute‑care hospital environment and be comfortable managing high‑acuity patients with minimal supervision. This role involves patient evaluation, treatment planning, clinical documentation, and patient/family education in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary setting.

The PT will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and rehabilitation staff to deliver safe, effective, and patient‑centered care.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesEvaluation & Treatment:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized plans of care.
  • Implement evidence‑based therapeutic interventions to improve mobility, strength, and functional independence.
  • Adjust treatment plans based on patient progress and clinical presentation.

Patient & Family Education:

  • Provide clear instructions and training to patients and caregivers regarding exercises, mobility, and safe functional activities.
  • Offer education related to discharge recommendations and home exercise programs.

Documentation & Billing:

  • Accurately document evaluations, daily treatments, reassessments, and discharge plans.
  • Ensure timely and compliant billing for all interventions provided.

Clinical Collaboration:

  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, case managers, and rehab staff to coordinate patient care.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings as needed.

Professional Development & Support:

  • Assist in orienting new staff and serve as a clinical instructor for students when appropriate.
  • Exercise independent judgment in managing moderately complex cases with minimal supervision.
  • Support competency development and workflow implementation as requested by Lead Clinicians.

QualificationsRequired:

  • New Jersey Physical Therapy License
  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Program
  • Strong ability to work independently in a busy acute-care inpatient setting
  • Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and patient‑management skills

Preferred:

  • 0–4 years of experience as a Physical Therapist (acute care preferred)
  • Prior acute‑care experience in ICU, Step‑Down, or Cardiac Units
  • Clinical affiliation or prior work experience with Atlantic Health System (preferred)
  • Board Certification in a specialty area applicable to acute care (preferred)

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM or 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
  • Setting: Inpatient acute care
  • On-site Requirement: 100% onsite
  • Orientation: 16 hours

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
