Physical Therapy Aide

Overview:

St. Joseph Hospital, located in Bethpage NY, is a not-for-profit full service, 203-bed, community hospital that plays a paramount role in its communities. The Emergency Department cares for over 34,000 patients a year. The hospital has achieved disease specific certification for its Stroke Program which is designated by NYS as a Gold Plus Center. Other vital services include the St. Francis Imaging Center at St. Joseph Hospital, a state-of-the-art cardiac CT scanner, MRI, Vascular Laboratory, Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine, Center for Sleep Medicine, Center for Swallowing, Speech & Voice, and comprehensive in-patient medical, critical care and surgical services.

Job Details:

This position includes both patient care and non–patient care responsibilities. The individual will assist Physical Therapists (PTs) and Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) with patient preparation, transfers, and treatments as needed. The role also includes assigning patients and managing the inpatient physical therapy schedule. The employee will be responsible for Safe Patient Handling equipment training and competency.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with patient preparation, transfers, and treatments under the direction of PTs and PTAs.

• Assign patients and manage the inpatient physical therapy schedule.

• Maintain departmental statistics, logs, and perform billing reviews.

• Assist with scheduling, pre-registration, and insurance authorizations for outpatient services as needed.

• Utilize service excellence standards when interacting with patients, families, external customers, and hospital staff.

• Provide respectful, courteous, and professional customer service.

• Support Safe Patient Handling equipment training and ensure competency compliance.

• Maintain accurate documentation and departmental records.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• BLS Certification required.

• One year of prior clinical experience preferred.

• Strong computer skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

• Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.

Posted Salary Range: USD $25.59 - USD $25.59 /Hr. :
