Salary Pay Range:$226,851.26-$330,026.39

Essential Functions:

  • Provides professional medical screening, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of Withdrawal Management Admissions including substance use assessments
  • Developments and implements individualized detoxification protocols based on ASAM criteria and evidence-based practices.
  • Monitors patient stability and withdrawal symptoms daily, adjust medications and treatment plans as needed.
  • Addresses co-occurring complications that may arise during detox.
  • Screens for safety and rule out any higher-level acuity patients for hospital or other levels of care.
  • Recognizes office medical emergencies and coordinates treatment including facilitating EMS transfer when necessary.
  • Prescribes both pharmacological agents and non-pharmacological therapy tailored to the individual patients profile upon admission to Withdrawal Management program.
  • Promotes counseling services and initiates hand off with care coordination and behavioral health.
  • Leads interdisciplinary rounds and coordinate care with nursing department.
  • Supports continuous quality improvement efforts through chart reviews, incident response, and clinical consults.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with patients, families, staff and external partners.
  • Delivers trauma-informed and culturally responsive care.
  • Treats patients with respect, dignity, supporting autonomy and recovery orientated goals.
  • Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education, Experience, and Licenses:

  • Requires a M.D. or D.O. degree, and license in the State of Oregon.
  • Requires a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in practice, not including completion of required family practice residency. Experience working with Tribal or Public Health Clinics preferred.
  • OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Driving Requirements:

  • Must maintain a valid Oregon driver’s license or obtain one upon hire, qualify for the Tribe’s vehicle insurance, and provide proof of personal vehicle insurance.

Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications:

  • Must be certified by the American Board of Family Practice or other physician specialty board for primary care medicine.
  • Must be BLS certified.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must respect all others regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or income level.
  • Must be committed to providing comprehensive health care to the individual, family, and community.
  • Must possess a strong knowledge base of medical conditions and treatments.
  • Must be able to perform office procedures (including both invasive and non-invasive minor surgery).
  • Must be able to complete patient visits and documentation in a reasonable amount of time (as determined by team-generated protocols).
  • When required, will need to obtain appropriate medical consultation.
  • Must maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Adherences to the organization’s policies and procedures covering the privacy, access, and patient health information in compliance with Federal and state laws and the healthcare organization’s information privacy practices.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture required.

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication.
  • Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
  • Continually requires the use of vision, specifically close vision, color identification and depth perception.
  • Occasionally requires hearing alarms.
  • Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally.
  • Occasionally requires lifting of up to 40 pounds.
  • Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
  • This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions.
  • Continually required to wear plastic/latex gloves and safety shoes.
  • Continually required to handle soiled laundry.
  • Occasionally required to wear safety glasses.
  • Occasionally exposed to compressed gases and detergents.
  • Supports a safe work environment by performing all duties in accordance with Tribal safety policies and procedures, and Emergency Management Plan.
  • Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
  • May be called upon to serve as a Disaster Reservist during emergencies.
  • Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.
