Locum | $180/Hour + Call Pay | OR First Assist | ECMO | California

We are actively seeking a highly experienced Cardiovascular / Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant (PA-C) for a premium locum opportunity in California. This is a high-acuity inpatient role within a hospital-based cardiovascular surgery program combining OR first assist, ICU management, mechanical circulatory support, rounding, and clinic responsibilities.

If you are a skilled CT Surgery PA comfortable managing complex cardiac cases and mechanical support devices, this is a strong, well-compensated opportunity.

Position Details

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Guaranteed: 8 hours per day (Overtime after 8 hours)
• Availability: Full-time preferred; minimum 3–4 days/week considered
• Setting: Inpatient (clinic located within hospital)
• Patient Volume: 5–8 per shift
• Start: May (pending privileges)

This role integrates OR, ICU, and clinic workflow within one facility.

Call Structure (1:2 Rotation)

• Weekday Call: 3:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekend Call: Friday 3:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM
• Callbacks: Approximately 1–2 per month
• Shared 50/50 with one other PA

Compensation

• $180 per hour (guaranteed 8 hours/day)
• $1,565 per 24-hour call
• $520 per night call
• $180/hour for callback time

Required Experience & Skills

• Active California PA license
• Active California DEA
• ACLS & BLS certified
• Cardiovascular / Cardiothoracic Surgery experience required
• OR First Assist
• Endoscopic & open (radial) vein harvesting
• ICU / step-down patient management
• Interpretation of EKGs, X-rays, labs
• Mechanical circulatory support management:
• ECMO
• IABP
• Impella

Preferred

• 3–5 years of dedicated Cardiovascular or Cardiothoracic Surgery PA experience
