Valley Neurology Group is looking for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team of experienced Neurologists and provide care for Kern County. Valley Neurology Group has been serving the community since 2020, and its providers have been in Kern County since 1998. They have excellent reviews within the medical and patient communities.

As an advanced practice provider, you will not be expected to know how to treat a wide variety of neurological diseases and conditions, but have a willingness and ability to learn and train. Reading and study will be required for continued success. The job description of a nurse practitioner/ Physician Assistant in our office includes conducting history, physical examinations, interpreting tests and overseeing patient care services, including performing nerve blocks, migraine-botulin toxin injections and reviewing clinical tests. Clinical experience in primary care is preferred in application to our specialty. A curious mind to explore differential diagnosis with knowledge and decision-making ability is key.

As an Neurology NP/ PA, you’ll get to work closely with other healthcare professionals including MD/ Super specialist and DNP's, so you should have a team spirit and a positive attitude. On average our staff has been together for 12+ years and are very competent and helpful. Patience, care/ empathy towards patients problem-solving skills and communication and above all, excellent Team player skills are important.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose health conditions and illnesses
  • Examine patients and their medical reports
  • Order and study diagnostic tests (blood tests, MRI, CT, etc.)
  • Assessment and plan for patient complaints
  • Propose treatment plans for chronic diseases
  • Prescribe medications
  • Maintain accurate records and schedules
  • Inform patients about their health conditions and prescribed medications
  • Educate patients and their family members on diseases, epidemics and prevention
  • Improve patient care and outcomes with excellent communication skills.
  • Promote good health practices and active team player skills.
  • Advance professional knowledge in Neurology is preferred, but medical knowledge/ clinical-patient experience required.

Skills

  • Proven experience as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in a clinic, hospital, ER or other setting
  • Expertise in medical care, acute care and chronic care practices
  • Knowledge of health and patient care regulations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong ethics
  • Team player skills with a positive attitude towards patient/ learning new skills.
  • Patience and cool-headedness
  • Willingness to continue gaining knowledge and clinical experience
  • Valid CA license, Certification and DEA
  • Master’s degree; NP/PA certification is required.

Job Type: Full-time ( varied from 4 days work week -near full time to full time of 40 hours per week), flexible work schedule to work ( can have 1-2 weekdays off per week depends on 4-5 days work week and willing to work on Saturdays), Able to have flexible schedule- adjust the holiday requirements by having a 6 day work week if needed to compensate for other weekdays/ extension of paid holidays.

Pay: $135,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year, enumeration depends on 1099/W-2, required benefits, Health insurance options, 401 matching at 3-5% after 1-2 years of employment, Paid off time 3-4 weeks per year ( even more based on 5-6 days work week), CME, Sick leave

Pay: $140,864.47 - $165,656.34 per year

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
