Physician Assistant - Sports Medicine

Physician Assistant: Shoulder, Elbow, Knee surgery & Sports Medicine (Clinic-Based)
About the Physician Practice:
Join the high-volume, mature sports medicine and shoulder, elbow, and knee practice of one of Arizona’s premier orthopedic surgeons and partners of OrthoArizona. Grow your knowledge, skills, and experience in a dynamic, high paced, learning opportunity rich environment. This is a 100% office-based role with only occasional first-assist surgical duties. The role requires a standard 40-hour work week dedicated exclusively to patients with shoulder, elbow, and knee conditions only, with no inpatient rounding or after hours/weekend call responsibilities. This provider’s diverse, high-profile patient base spans all ages and includes high school, collegiate, and professional athletes, as well as specialized concierge orthopedic patients. This is an experienced, team-oriented practice with highly efficient coordination and teamwork between physician, APP’s, MA’s, schedulers, and scribes. The ability to work with team members and function autonomously with clinical independence are mandatory for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Run Independent Clinics: Evaluate and treat patients in your own, independent clinic with the clinical care team of MAs, scribes, and schedulers. Surgeon oversight is available as needed.
Clinical Care: Perform comprehensive new patient, established patient, and postoperative patient histories, physical exams, imaging reviews, diagnostic and treatment plan implementation for patients with shoulder, elbow, and knee pathology.
Procedures: Administer joint injections. Ultrasound guided injection experience preferred but not required.
Care Coordination: A team mentality is mandatory regarding assisting scribes, medical assistants, and schedulers with pre-operative surgical clearance review, patient paperwork, patient office documentation, and patient phone calls as needed.
Schedule: 40 hours per week with flexibility between a 10-hour day 4 days a week vs 8-hour day 5 days a week schedule. Clinic only. No hospital rounding. No on-call responsibilities.
Locations: OrthoArizona Chandler Village (Chandler) and Pima Crossing (Scottsdale).
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with NCCPA certification required.
  • Active Arizona State License and CPR certification required.
  • Routine EMR and office software experience expected. Training on Mod Med EMR will be provided.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience as an APP in a high-volume, busy orthopedic practice.
