HJF is seeking a Physician III - Breast Surgeon to provide clinical, scientific, technical and programmatic support services to the Murtha Cancer Center Research Program’s Clinical Breast Care Project (CBCP). The Physician will be responsible for the treatment of patients both benign and malignant disease, during the progression of their malignant disease and informing patients of the availability for participation in clinical research studies within established institutional policies and procedures, ensuring that all necessary steps are followed for safety and regulatory compliance, and for assuring accuracy of complex clinical documentation on patient’s records while maintaining confidentiality.
Due to clearance requirements, this position is only able to consider US citizens.
This is a part-time position scheduled for 20 hours/week.
This position will be in support of the Murtha Cancer Center Research Program’s Clinical Breast Care Project and its Breast Center at Walter Reed NMMC, where the mission is to decrease morbidity and mortality of breast cancer amongst American women with particular focus on the active-duty female population, demographic, characteristics and risks. However, the physician will be responsible for the clinical care of patients of any type in the Breast Center.
The CBCP program utilizes a unique 5-pillar structure: Translational Clinical Care, Breast Cancer Risk Reduction, Biorepository, Biomedical Informatics, and Focused Research to perform research directly within the DoW into breast cancer and other diseases while improving the quality of life for our active-duty patients and their families, as well as veterans and beneficiaries.
