Responsibilities:
USA Health is seeking a full-time board-certified/board eligible Pulmonary and Critical Care Intensivist who is interested in providing expert care for patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions and those requiring intensive care. This physician will evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage patients with life-threatening illnesses, including respiratory failure, sepsis, multi-organ dysfunction, and complex pulmonary disorders. The role combines clinical expertise in pulmonary medicine with critical care management in the ICU. The job will be 26 weeks/year with a seven-day on/seven day off model. The hospital is affiliated with the University of South Alabama, and the candidate will be responsible for teaching and supervising Pulmonary and Critical Care fellows who are rotating on the service. Some opportunities for rotating on the Pulmonary Consult service at University Hospital might be available if there is interest.
Clinical Duties:

Provide comprehensive care for critically ill patients in the ICU, including ventilator management and hemodynamic support.

Diagnose and manage complex pulmonary diseases such as COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, and sleep-disordered breathing.

Perform procedures including bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, chest tube placement, central venous catheter insertion, arterial line placement, and intubation.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other specialists, to develop patient-centered care plans.

Respond to ICU emergencies and provide rapid, evidence-based interventions.
Administrative and Leadership Duties:

Participate in ICU leadership meetings and quality improvement initiatives.

Develop protocols for ventilator management, sepsis care, and ICU patient safety.

Document patient care accurately and maintain compliance with hospital and regulatory requirements.
Research and Education:

Mentor and supervise residents, fellows, and other healthcare staff in critical care practices.

Participate in clinical research, quality improvement, and continuing education programs.

Educate patients and families regarding disease processes, prognosis, and care plans.

Stay updated with latest guidelines and advancements in pulmonary and critical care medicine

Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited medical school, licensure with the State of Alabama board, certified in clinical area, and DEA registration. USA Hospital staff privileges eligible.
