PHYSICIAN RELATIONS COORDINATOR

Job Summary:

The Physician Relations Coordinator, under the supervision of the Administrator of Behavioral Health, coordinates activities for the Department of Psychiatry and Addictionology. This includes assisting in building and maintaining positive relationships with employed physicians, contract physicians and nurse practitioners working within the department. Other Duties: Completes all credentialing applications for applicable third party payers, Assists in communication of physician schedules, tracks expenses related to physicians such as CME and other travel related expense, prepares and distributes reports related to physician productivity and other quality measures, communicates hospital consults to appropriate physician, serves as hospital liaison to physician answering service; assists with physician recruitment and new physician orientation. Assumes other duties as assigned by the Administrator of Behavioral Health Officer. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.


Performance Expectation:



  • Demonstrates the ability to generate reports accurately and timely.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to appropriately communicate and interact with physicians and nurse practitioners regarding work and call schedules.
  • Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain relationships with companies/organizations/schools for recruitment.



Qualifications:

Education/Skills:

Bachelor Degree (preferably in Health Care or Communications-related field), or five years’ experience in related health care field required. Computer skills and knowledge of office operations required.


Work Experience:

Working knowledge and experience of data processing systems, organization ability, communication skills, and customer service skills required. One to three years clerical experience required.


Mental Demands:

Exceptional oral and written skills are required to relate effectively to Hospital and medical staff. The individual must have the ability to type and be familiar with the rules of spelling, grammar, and punctuation. The individual must have the ability to use a computer display station, copier, telephone, personal computer, calculator and various pieces of AV Equipment. Working knowledge of medical terminology is necessary. The individual must have a high energy level and be capable of handling pressure situations both mentally and physically. The ability to perform repetitive tasks, cooperate with others, follow directions precisely, and demonstrate initiative is required. The individual must be able to prioritize and meet project deadlines, have good written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to maintain rapport.
