Pay Range: $33.86-$35.47/hr - Compensation is based on relevant education and experience and will be set within the listed range.
Work in conjunction with science faculty to set up, improve existing labs, and develop new labs while coordinating the distribution of materials, equipment and laboratory space.
Schedule: This is a full-time benefit eligible, 40 hours per week, 12 month position.
- Assemble/construct/manage/prepare introductory and advanced instructional laboratories.
- Support lab instructional goals by developing or improving lab equipment /experiments
- Maintain all apparatus used in the Physics labs, including sending out of equipment for repairs when necessary.
- Develop/fabricate, and prepare materials for all demonstrations
- Order all materials needed for Physics and maintain pertinent records of their purchase.
- Oversee the department photocopier, reporting problems to the manufacturer, reordering cartridges and paper supplies.
- Restock and prep the physics classrooms at the end of term during both regular session and summer school.
- Restock, refresh, refine, repair the equipment in physics stock room at the end of every school year.
- Troubleshoot classroom software- and hardware-based sensors used for experiments.
- Supervise and assist students with projects on an as needed basis.
- Act as a liaison between the Chairperson (Department) and non-academic departments such as Facilities Management and Purchasing.
- Order materials and parts needed for the student robotics team. Work with the robotics head coach/supervisor and student activities on regularly cycled orders as well as specialty items.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Machine shop and fabrication skills, including but not limited to, using drill press, band saw, miter saw, table saw and all hand tools
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment, technology and standard experimental procedures.
- Demonstrated understanding of science safety practice and lab management.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in physics, engineering, physical sciences or closely related field preferred
Experience
- 1-2 years working in a laboratory environment (academic science lab, research facility or educational setting) preferred.
- Experience with carpentry and electricity preferred.
- Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.
