Responsibilities
  • Managerial: In an inter disciplinary manner, communicating with and working alongside physiotherapy colleagues and other healthcare staff where combined treatment and/or management is indicated.
  • Supervising junior staff and ensuring their adherence to ongoing policies and procedures as applied and implemented in the Section/Department/Facility (as per requirement).
  • Maintaining sufficient inventory of material supplies and equipment for performance of duties.
  • Reporting shortage of materials to supervisor at earliest convenience, ordering and approving replenishments when necessary.
  • Deputizing for Senior Physiotherapist if requested.
  • Technical: Formulating and delivering a highly specialized, individual physiotherapy treatment program based on evidence based practice and treatment options using advanced clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment e.g. manual techniques, electrotherapy, patient education, appliances, exercise classes, and other options.
  • Undertaking a comprehensive assessment of patients, including those with diverse or complex/multi pathology presentations, using highly specialized clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to provide an accurate physiotherapy diagnosis.
  • Formulating accurate physiotherapy prognoses, recommending the best course of intervention and developing comprehensive discharge plans.
  • Testing and measuring patients' function (e.g., strength, motor development and function, sensor perception, functional capacity, respiratory and circulatory efficiency) and recording the data.
  • Evaluating patient progress, re-assessing and altering treatment programs if required; gathering, collating and analysing information to solve clinical and professional problems at a high level.
  • Using a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with patients to progress rehabilitation and treatment programs, including patients who have difficulties understanding or communicating (e.g., those who may be mentally unwell, dysphasic, depressed, deaf or blind).
  • Maintaining and monitoring adequate stock levels, supplements and primary resources, and advising on their appropriate use within the work area.
  • Travelling with patients, as required within and outside the United Arab Emirates, for physiotherapy treatment.
  • Performing Home Physiotherapy as required.
  • Interpreting for patients, if bilingual and required.
  • Quality & Safety: Ensuring safe and competent use of all electrotherapy, gym, pool equipment and patient appliances; ensuring junior staff/assistants attain competency prior to use; maintaining day-to-day safe use of equipment; promoting and maintaining quality and continuous quality improvement measures; complying with safety, health and quality control programs; maintaining patient confidentiality; practicing within established policies; ensuring SOPs and quality assurance tests are maintained; documenting all interventions; supporting clinical audit processes; communicating professionally with patients, families and other care providers; interacting courteously with doctors, nurses and other healthcare providers as needed.
  • Education: Assisting in training of students if required.
  • Remarks: The responsibilities above are not exclusive of other duties; the employee may be asked to perform additional duties consistent with qualifications, experience and ability as required by supervision.
Qualifications

Required

  • NLT 2 years as a Physiotherapist in a large hospital in relevant experience with patients with same diagnosis seen in acute care hospital or rehab facilities

Desired

  • Wide background is preferred (i.e., ICU, acute medical/surgical) with 1 year of demonstrated leadership
