Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Assessment & Diagnosis
- Conduct thorough initial assessments including medical history, physical examinations, strength, balance, and mobility evaluations to determine treatment needs. Identify movement dysfunction and create tailored treatment plans with measurable goals.
2. Treatment Planning & Rehabilitation
- Design and deliver personalized treatment plans using techniques like manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, electrotherapy, hot/cold packs, taping, splinting, and more. Support recovery from surgery, injury, or illness by guiding rehabilitation, gradually restoring function, strength, mobility, and independence.
3. Specialized Interventions
- Offer pulmonary care (respiratory physiotherapy, airway clearance, breathing exercises) for patients with respiratory conditions, Perform falls prevention strategies, including balance training, safe transfer instructions, and strengthening exercises to reduce fall risk.
4. Patient Education & Discharge Planning
- Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, self-management techniques, injury prevention, and safe home mobility.
- Plan for discharge by assessing functional independence and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure safe transitions.
5. Multidisciplinary Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, and caregivers to ensure coordinated care and holistic treatment. Clearly explain treatments and procedures to patients and obtain informed consent.
6. Clinical Documentation & Administration
- Maintain detailed and accurate clinical notes, treatment plans, progress records, and billing documentation as per hospital policies. Participate in quality improvement, audits, and comply with health, safety, and equipment protocols.
7. Supervision & Training
- Support and guide junior physiotherapists, assistants, or students.
