Physiotherapists treat patients with physical difficulties resulting from illness, injury, disability or ageing. They treat people of all ages including children, the elderly, stroke patients and people with sports injuries.

Physiotherapists work with patients to identify and improve their movement and function. They help promote their patients' health and wellbeing, and assist the rehabilitation process by developing and restoring body systems, in particular the neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. They devise and review treatment programmes, comprising manual therapy, movement, therapeutical exercise and the application of technological equipment, e.g. ultrasound. Physiotherapists also provide advice on how to avoid injury


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Undertake duties in accordance with the philosophy, business practices and policies of NMCSH-Al-Ain, and practicing within the standards and ethics of the Physiotherapy profession Typical work activities include:

  • working with patients to identify the physical problem;

  • developing and reviewing treatment programmes;

  • assisting patients with joint and spinal problems, especially following surgery;

  • helping patients' rehabilitation following accidents, injury and strokes;

  • supervising physiotherapy assistants;

  • writing patient case notes and reports;

  • collecting patient statistics;

  • educating and advising patients and their carers about how to prevent and/or improve conditions;

    • Working as a professional member of a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation team and actively participating in team meetings

    • Effectively communicating with staff members, health professionals, clients and family with regards to provision of physiotherapy services

    • Supervising and instructing Physiotherapy Aides

    • Contributing to, and participating in, education programs for residents, relatives and staff of NMCSH

    • Participating in continuing education and courses updating Physiotherapy techniques and information

    • Ensuring Physiotherapy equipment is adequately maintained and liaising with the HOD for the ordering of supplies and equipment

    • Ensuring Physiotherapy treatments are based on sound evidence of benefit

    • Ensuring all adverse clinical events are recorded and reported

    • Maintaining a safe work environment

    • Assisting in the on-going maintenance of a safe work place through involvement in the implementation of safe systems of work

    • Identifying and reporting hazards in the workplace.

    • Participating in NMCSH Quality Management System and commitment to processes of continuous improvement activities, including auditing, surveys and needs analysis.

    • Other duties as directed by the HOD or the Medical Director/Administrator.

OSH ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

General:

3.15 Responsible to be familiarize, comply and implement the OSHAD-SF& NMCSH Al Ain Internal OSHMS policies and procedures/SOP’s relevant to their department.

3.16 Staff should notify/report all OSHMS hazards, incidents, accidents and near misses within the premises of NMCSH Al Ain to their supervisor or department OSH Facilitator as per the incident reporting protocol of NMCSH Al Ain.

3.17 Staff are responsible to assist with the preparation of departmental risk assessment activities and implement the control measure within the timeframe.

3.18 Staff are responsible to attend applicable department OSHMS training.

3.19 Staff are not allowed to tamper or misuse any NMCSH Al Ain equipment’s and its property.

3.20 Comply with all OSH instructions, safe working procedures and signages within the premises of NMCSH-Al Ain.

3.21 Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedure.

3.22 Not willfully or recklessly endanger anyone's health and safety;

3.23 Make proper use of all machinery, tools, substances, etc., safety systems and of all Personal Protective Equipment provided for use at work.

3.24 Participate in required OSH inspection, audit and OSH monitoring programs.

BCP ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsibilities of staff (including all contractors) are:
3.25.1 Achieving an adequate level of general awareness regarding business continuity Being aware of the contents of their service areas disaster recovery plan and any specific role or responsibilities allocated.
  • Participating actively in the business continuity programme when required
    3.25.3 Ensuring information governance standards continue to be applied to data and information during an incident

  • Adhere to information systems policies and procedures as required by Health Care Organization.

    • Ensure that documentation in the health record reflects accuracy, integrity and authenticity

  • Follow security and privacy policies and procedures to the use of networks, including intranet and Internet.

  • Follow confidentiality and security measures to protect electronic health information.

  • Maintain data integrity and validity within an information system.

  • Report any possible breaches of confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies.

  • Health Information/Data Technical Security:

    Apply departmental and organizational data and information system security policies

    Basic Computer Literacy Skills:

  • Use basic word processing, spreadsheet and desktop presentation applications as applicable to your work.

    • Demonstrate proficiency in Windows operating environment.

    • Demonstrate use of email, addressing, forwarding, attachments, netiquette.


  • QUALIFICATION, LICENSURE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL

SKILLS:

  • Graduate from an approved College or University in Physiotherapy

    • Current license in country of origin with DOH license to practice in Emirate of Alain, U.A.E.

    • Minimum 2 years experience of practice in Physical Medicine

    • Excellent command of oral and written English. Arabic language advantageous/desirable but not essential.

    • Ability to work in cordial conditions in group practice in a hospital set up and as a member of a team

    • Knowledge of the range and type of services available for aged/disabled person

    • Ability to work with minimal supervision

    • Ability to review procedures and implement new models of service delivery to satisfy client and organizational requirements

    • Demonstrated commitment to quality outcomes and ability to consult with staff regarding continuous improvement

    • Sound computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
