Piano Instructor

Part-Time | Jam Academy Music & Art

Are you a piano player who loves making music but hates the "stuffy" side of it?

Do you find yourself teaching your friends songs by ear or jamming out just for the fun of it?

If you enjoy working with kids and want a gig that actually feels like a highlight of your week, we want to meet you!

About the Role:

At Jam Academy, we aren’t looking for a concert pianist with a wall full of trophies. We’re looking for relatable, energetic humans who can show a 7-year-old that playing the piano is the coolest thing they’ll do all day.

This is a perfect fit for high school seniors, college students, or anyone who has a solid handle on the keys and a high-five-ready personality. We focus on building a lifelong love of music - not the stress of high-stakes testing.

New to teaching? We'll train the right individual.

The Vibe

  • Recitals? YES! We love a good performance where students can show off their progress to family and friends.
  • Competitions? NO. We aren't training for the Olympics; we’re training for the joy of creation.
  • Our Philosophy: Fun-first. If the student is smiling, they’re learning.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Teaching weekly individual or small group piano lessons to kids, teens and the occasional adult.
  • Simplifying musical concepts so they’re easy (and fun) to understand.
  • Helping students pick songs they actually want to play (yes, even if it’s a catchy K-Pop TikTok trend or a video game theme).
  • Acting as a mentor and a "musical big sibling" to our students.

Who You Are

  • Relatable > Lettered: You don't need a PhD in Music Theory. If you can play well, communicate clearly, and connect with people, you’re our person.
  • Kid-Focused: You have a genuine blast hanging out with kids and helping them succeed.
  • Reliable & Positive: You show up with a smile and a "can-do" attitude.
  • Flexible: You’re looking for a part-time schedule that fits around your classes or other commitments.
  • Multi Faceted: The ideal candidate can also teach other instruments (voice, uke, guitar?) at a beginner level or beyond.

Why Join the Jam Fam?

  • Low Stress, High Reward: No rigid, outdated curriculum requirements.
  • Great Experience: Perfect for building a resume in education, performance, or leadership.
  • The Community: You’ll be working alongside other local musicians and artists who believe that art should be accessible to everyone.

Ready to help us start the next generation of music lovers?

How to Apply: Send a quick note to us at info@JamAcademy.com with Rockstar Candidate in the subject line. In your email tell us about why you love music and any experience you have working with kids (babysitting, camp counseling, and coaching all count!). If you have a video of you playing (or better yet, teaching!) feel free to include it - we’d love to see your style!
