Classic Pianos is the largest Yamaha, Bosendorfer, Schimmel & Estonia dealer in North America, as well as having the largest selection of premium pre-owned pianos in Portland, including brands like Steinway & Sons, Mason & Hamlin, Kawai, Baldwin, and others.

We take pride in helping our clients find the perfect piano for their home or commercial space, and our team is capable of helping with all piano-related needs, including tuning & service, education & moving.

We are seeking an experienced sales associate to join our growing sales team for a full-time position.

The ideal candidate is a driven self-starter with an outgoing personality and has several years of experience working with clientele in a high-end showroom, particularly selling musical instruments.

The role entails building and maintaining relationships by assisting customers in each step of the process, from researching and selecting a piano to the follow-through after the sale. An ability to demonstrate the piano to customers and have knowledge of our brands and many others is required, but can be taught in training.

Qualified candidates will have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Business, or a related field, along with piano knowledge and/or playing experience. Prior retail or outside sales experience is necessary.

Fluency in English is a requirement, and fluency in Mandarin is extremely desired.

Pay: Commission-based with unlimited earning potential

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate is a driven self-starter with an outgoing personality and has several years of experience working with clientele in a high-end showroom, particularly selling musical instruments.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and experience in sales or customer service
  • The showroom is open on weekends, and the candidate would be required to work these days
  • Superior communication, planning, and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with technology and music technology in particular is required, as customers will need demonstration and training on how to use some of the pianos featuring technology
  • Experience using a CRM and basic Microsoft Office
  • Note: Candidates must be able to lift 20-50 lbs. and be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting customers in finding the perfect piano that is ideal for both their purpose and budget. This will include working with both families and institutions that have a wide variety of needs.
  • Develop and nurture customer leads and relationships, including attending sponsored concerts and events like in-store recitals.
  • Use the CRM to manage and follow up with leads
  • Customer service and after-sales follow-through on tasks like tuning & service, tech-related assistance
  • Help keep the showroom organized and clean, as well as monitor inventory and accessories
