Position Summary

The Pipe Fitter is responsible for the assembly, fit-up, and fabrication of piping spools and related assemblies in accordance with customer specifications and isometric drawings. This position works closely with welders and other fabrication personnel to ensure piping systems are constructed safely, accurately, and efficiently while maintaining all quality and traceability requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret customer-provided isometric drawings, spool sheets, and fabrication documents.
  • Assemble piping spools and related components in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Work in tandem with welders to fit, align, and secure pipe, fittings, flanges, and other components prior to welding.
  • Utilize overhead cranes and rigging equipment to safely maneuver and position materials and assemblies.
  • Operate pneumatic, electric, and hand tools to prepare weld joints, clean materials, and perform fit-up activities.
  • Verify dimensions, orientation, and alignment to ensure assemblies meet drawing requirements and tolerances.
  • Record and maintain material heat numbers and traceability documentation as required by customer and quality procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist other personnel with fabrication, material handling, and related shop activities as directed by supervision.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Essential Job Functions

  • Safely rig, lift, and maneuver piping components and assemblies using overhead cranes and rigging equipment.
  • Build dimensionally and directionally accurate piping assemblies from isometric drawings.
  • Operate pneumatic, electric, and hand tools in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Work overtime as required to meet production schedules and customer commitments.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret isometric piping drawings and fabrication documents.
  • Knowledge of pipe fitting practices, fabrication methods, and assembly techniques.
  • Experience operating hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Knowledge of proper rigging practices and overhead crane operation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately read and use measuring instruments, including tape measures, angle finders, squares, and levels.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and lift materials.
  • Ability to safely lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in an industrial fabrication environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Physical ability to perform all assigned duties safely and efficiently.

Pay: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour
