The Pipe Grinder is responsible for grinding, smoothing, beveling, and finishing pipes and related components as per project specifications and safety standards. The role ensures proper pipe preparation for welding and installation activities on construction sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grind and smooth pipe surfaces, joints, and weld seams using hand grinders and power tools.
- Prepare pipe edges for welding (beveling and edge preparation).
- Remove slag, burrs, rust, and other surface imperfections.
- Ensure proper alignment and surface finishing as per approved drawings and specifications.
- Assist welders and pipe fitters during fabrication and installation works.
- Inspect finished surfaces to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Follow all site safety regulations and company HSE policies.
- Use appropriate PPE at all times.
- Report any equipment malfunction or safety hazards to the supervisor.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school certificate or vocational training preferred.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Pipe Grinder in construction or industrial projects.
- Familiarity with different types of pipes (carbon steel, stainless steel, etc.).
- Ability to read basic construction drawings is an advantage.
- Good physical condition and ability to work in demanding site environments.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and proper handling of grinding tools.
