Piping Engineer

Job Purpose

The Piping Engineer will be responsible for engineering coordination and on-site execution of piping works, with strong hands-on experience in industrial projects. The role requires practical exposure to pipe fitting, welding, hydrotesting, purchasing, and site installation activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, quality, and HSE standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide site engineering and technical support for piping fabrication, installation, and testing activities
• Review and interpret piping isometrics, layouts, GA drawings, and MTOs
• Supervise and coordinate pipe fitters, welders, and subcontractors on site
• Ensure compliance with ASME, ANSI, API, ASTM, ISO, and project standards
• Plan, execute, and witness hydrotesting, pneumatic testing, flushing, and reinstatement as per approved ITPs
• Ensure proper preparation, execution, and documentation of hydrotest packs and test records
• Coordinate and monitor welding activities, including WPS, PQR, welder qualifications, and NDT requirements
• Support and monitor pipe welding, fit-up, alignment, and erection activities
• Assist in material purchasing, including preparation of material requisitions, technical specifications, and coordination with procurement
• Verify materials upon delivery as per MR, MTCs, and project specifications
• Coordinate with QA/QC for inspections, test plans, and documentation
• Resolve site technical issues, clashes, and deviations in coordination with engineering and construction teams
• Participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
• Prepare daily/weekly progress reports and site documentation
• Ensure strict adherence to HSE requirements, toolbox talks, and safe work practices

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Hands-on industrial experience as a Pipe Fitter will be considered a strong advantage

Experience

• 3–8 years of experience in industrial / EPC / mining / oil & gas projects
• Proven site-based experience in piping construction
• Direct experience in:
• Pipe fitting and installation
• Welding supervision and coordination
• Hydrotesting and testing ITPs
• Material purchasing and site procurement support

Skills & Competencies

• Strong practical knowledge of pipe fitting, welding, hydrotesting, and erection methods
• Good understanding of piping materials, valves, fittings, and supports
• Ability to read and interpret isometric drawings and P&IDs
• Familiarity with ITPs, WPS, NDT, and quality documentation
• Good coordination skills with construction, QA/QC, and procurement teams
• Ability to work in remote and challenging site conditions
