Piping Engineer [ Engineering ]

Piping Engineer – Engineering

Surveillance of Contractors/sub-Contractors' implementation of engineering documents to verify compliance with contract documentation and latest codes and standards. Reviews engineering documents submitted by the EPC Contractor and verifies compliance with engineering specifications and applicable codes and standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide critical engineering input for development of scope of work, specifications, and design criteria for capital projects, covering constructability aspects
  • Develop efficient technical solutions; verify project development to minimize time and cost impacts due to variations
  • Assist the Head of Engineering in defining engineering and technical specifications related to piping for procurement and construction phases
  • Coordinate all discipline design work including calculations, drafting, and related piping design to ensure compliance with applicable Codes and Standards
  • Prepare and review Design Basis; develop discipline and general Codes and Standards requirements and specifications
  • Prepare, review and ensure integration with other engineering disciplines; cooperate and support Machinery/Rotating and Civil disciplines
  • Coordinate and provide input to Site Layout, Underground Coordination Plans, Plot Plans, Equipment Layout, P&ID Reviews, 3D Model Reviews, and Material Selection Diagrams
  • Review and approval of Contractors and sub-Contractors' engineering documents for conformance to specifications, codes, and standards
  • Review piping works and static equipment installation for adequacy of construction and inspection methodologies
  • Monitor work status to identify potential interface or schedule problems
  • Initiate non-conformance reports and produce daily/weekly engineering reports identifying documents reviewed and work progress
  • Review isometric drawings and provide technical advice for safe and efficient installation

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Experience in providing technical support during design, construction, installation, and commissioning of major projects
  • Extensive experience handling contractors and sub-contractors
  • Knowledge of design techniques and tools, including piping systems and practices in the hydrocarbon industry
  • Ability to read technical drawings with strong planning and organizing skills
  • Good knowledge of international codes and standards and quality control techniques
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written) with knowledge of Microsoft Office and discipline-specific software
