Piping Estimator

Overview

A well-established mechanical contractor in the Chicagoland area is seeking a Piping Estimator to support a growing pipeline of commercial and industrial projects. This role will focus on estimating piping systems across a variety of sectors, including healthcare, industrial, and large-scale commercial work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for piping systems (HVAC, process piping, plumbing)
• Perform takeoffs from drawings, specs, and bid documents
• Analyze project scope, labor, materials, and subcontractor pricing
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and project walkthroughs
• Support value engineering and cost-saving initiatives

Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating experience within mechanical/piping/plumbing
• Strong understanding of piping systems and construction methods
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
• Experience with takeoff and estimating software
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines
