The Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP), Planning Division, is seeking to fill one (1) Planner V position in Honolulu.
What You Will Do-
Assist in processing amendments to the General Plan and development plans, the five year reviews of development plans, the preparation of the Biennial Report, and the review of regulations and standards to implement the development plan's vision, policies, and guidelines.

Implement community participation programs for long range plan updates, evaluate efficacy and performance of policies adopted under the Plans, draft changes to policies, and document update processes in technical reports.

Monitor and manage compliance with conditions of unilateral agreements.

Review and recommend action on formal binding agreements, sales/marketing strategies, and income and sales eligibility documentation submitted by developers.
***Salary for the Department of Planning and Permitting: $6,667 - $7,417 per month (SR-24). Actual salary will be commensurate with applicable experience, pending approval.***

Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), Administration Division, is also seeking to fill one (1)
Planner V position in Kapolei.
What You Will Do-
Coordinate, facilitate and participate in interagency planning activities in the formulation of long-range plans and other special projects for park grounds and facilities maintenance and community engagement.

Develop and conduct presentations with governmental, private and community groups.

Conduct surveys and studies to develop new methods and techniques for grounds and facilities maintenance and community engagement.

Develop, analyze and complete studies and research of specialized activities and services of park grounds and facilities maintenance and community engagement programs.

Provide input for planning and review of plans and designs of park grounds and facilities.
Special Work Requirements-
May work weekends, holidays and evenings.

Will serve as a Disaster Response Worker during declared emergencies.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in city planning, architecture, engineering, economics, sociology, public administration or a related field.
Substitution: Work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor's degree.
For example:
1. Four (4) years of professional work experience, in any occupation, may substitute for a general bachelor's degree.
2. Four (4) years of general work experience (does not need to be professional level experience) in urban planning may be substituted for a general bachelor's degree.

A Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from an accredited college/university may be substituted for two years of architecture, engineering, or socio-economic research experience and one year of city planning experience.
