Job Description

TITLE:
Planner/Scheduler (Production and Outside Process)
DEPARTMENT: Supply Chain
EXEMPTION STATUS: Exempt, Professional

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for creating and managing shop orders and schedules for staff and equipment for all production areas, ensuring projects are on time and within budget, and optimizing workflows. Manage the outside processing program and make sure all orders are processed correctly and cleaned up regularly. Analyze project plans, develop schedules, and make recommendations for improving productivity and reducing costs.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Releasing, monitoring and closing shop orders to assure adequate inventory for needed material and WIP products.
  • Schedules departments, minimizing the number of set-ups required by combining similar types of jobs where possible. Level loads standard hours within a departmental work center.
  • Manage the outside process flow for materials and paperwork. This includes all orders being sent out to suppliers for paint, logos, graffiti coating, buff and polish as well as any other processes requiring outside operations. This includes emergency outsourcing when critical equipment goes down. Perform audits to make sure the system matches the actual quantity of parts at suppliers being processed.
  • Responsible for capacity planning to find under and overloads to determine if outsourcing or level loading is required. Update weekly capacity charts.
  • Responsible for maintaining sub-inventories.
  • Responsible for inventory accuracy on WIP inventory and achieving inventory goals.
  • Analyzes MRP exception messages for material requirements and takes appropriate action.
  • Analyzes and reports inventory errors
  • Where required, analyzes each newly released sales order to determine the feasibility of providing product upon requested ship date.
  • Communicates verbally, in writing, and via computer to resolve internal issues.
  • Coordinates with quality control and buyer to resolve and dispose of raw material rejection notices.
  • Maintains inventory accuracy, cycle counts, and adjustments.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Review and processes Engineering change orders and order change notices timely and effectively.
  • KPI tracking.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associate degree or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Two to four years of job-related experience.
  • Knowledge of MRP and Just in Time principles.

SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of products, manufacturing methods and procedures, and purchasing principles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication skills include the ability to translate facts, exchange information, and persuade others.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Jobs typically function in a normal office environment with some discomfort due to noise, temperature changes, dust, and the like. May require occasional travel to multiple sites.

  • Extended work hours frequently required.

  • Work requires keyboarding.

  • Occasional lifting of raw materials of 20 pounds or less, walking, standing, and sitting. In some cases, pushing and pulling is required.

  • Work frequently requires attention to details. Frequent pressures related to meeting deadlines, scheduling requirements and simultaneous projects is required. Work is frequently affected by distracting influences such as people, telephone calls, etc.
