Description

This is a part-time technical internship position supporting the City of Westerville Planning & Development Department. Job responsibilities include exercising initiative, independent judgment and research skills. Position involves contact with Department staff, other City staff, outside agencies and the general public. This is a part-time position with flexible hours.


SUPERVISION

Work is performed under the direction of the Deputy Director.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF WORK

(May not include all of the duties performed.)

  • Use of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Conducting research, compiling data, analyzing information and preparing reports
  • Assisting staff with job duties and special projects
  • Communication with City staff, outside agencies and the general public (both verbally and in writing)
  • Researches property records to determine ownership, zoning district and other relevant information; conducts research of development plans and provides information to staff, property owners, business owners and others
  • Assist with field investigation of residential, commercial, and industrial properties for compliance with applicable city codes and ordinances.
  • Assist in the collection and compiling of data
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and correspondence. Maintains records and completes reports as required
  • Utilization of a calculator, copy machine, print machine, fax, automobile, computer and other standard office equipment while performing essential functions. Performs other related duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF WORK

  • Possession of high school diploma required
  • College level student enrolled in a program including but not limited to City and Regional Planning, Engineering, Public Administration, Paralegal, Criminal Justice, Law, Social Work, or Construction Management
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Possession of a valid Ohio driver's license


RETIREMENT PENSION
The City contributes 14% monthly toward retirement benefits offered through the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System. The employee pension payment share is 10% of gross salary.

Personal Leave
Eligible for 24 hours of personal leave if more than 500 hours worked in previous calendar year.

Eligible for 40 hours of personal leave if more than 1000 worked in previous calendar year.
