The Planning Engineer will be responsible for preparing, monitoring, and updating project schedules for multiple engineering projects. The role ensures that projects are executed efficiently, deadlines are met, and resources are optimally allocated. This position will collaborate closely with project managers, design engineers, and contractors to support timely project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed project schedules, including milestones, deliverables, and dependencies, using recognized project management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
- Prepare baseline and updated project plans, ensuring alignment with contract requirements, client expectations, and engineering standards.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential delays or issues, and propose corrective actions to keep projects on track.
- Coordinate with project teams to collect updates on design, procurement, and construction activities.
- Prepare and present regular project reports, including progress charts, resource allocation, and critical path analysis.
- Support risk management by analyzing project timelines and highlighting schedule risks.
- Assist in project forecasting, manpower planning, and resource optimization.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure timely communication of schedule changes.
- Maintain accurate records of project schedules, revisions, and approvals.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience (typically 3+ years) as a Planning Engineer in consultancy, construction, or large-scale engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and planning tools (Primavera P6, MS Project).
- Ability to prepare and analyze schedules, reports, and progress charts.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills for coordination with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Understanding of engineering project lifecycle, contract requirements, and construction processes.
Preferred:
- PMP or PMI certification or equivalent project management qualification.
- Experience with cost control, resource leveling, and schedule risk analysis.
- Knowledge of international construction standards and engineering consultancy practices.
