Job Purpose:
The Planning Engineer is responsible for preparing, monitoring, and updating project schedules for building construction projects. The role involves coordinating with project teams, tracking progress, forecasting project timelines, identifying potential delays, and ensuring the project is completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed project schedules (baseline program) using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Prepare resource-loaded and cost-loaded programs for all construction activities.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager and site team to gather actual progress data and update the schedule accordingly.
- Monitor project progress and identify critical paths, potential delays, and corrective actions.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports with visual charts and performance indicators (SPI, CPI, etc.).
- Conduct delay analysis and assist in the preparation of extension of time (EOT) claims.
- Review subcontractor programs and ensure alignment with the master schedule.
- Coordinate with procurement and engineering teams to ensure material submittals, approvals, and deliveries are scheduled properly.
- Attend project meetings to present and discuss the project status, schedule updates, and recovery plans.
- Develop cash flow projections and manpower histograms in line with the project schedule.
- Support the project management team in strategic decision-making through data-driven forecasting and scenario analysis.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Required 10 years of experience as a Planning Engineer in building construction projects (residential, commercial, or high-rise).
- Proficient in Primavera P6 and MS Project.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles and construction methodologies.
- Experience in delay analysis and EOT claim preparation is an advantage.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and coordination abilities.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
