Role Summary:
The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules, ensuring timely completion of all project activities. The role involves coordinating with project teams, analyzing progress, identifying delays, and preparing reports to support efficient project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, update, and maintain detailed project schedules using planning software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Develop baseline schedules, work-breakdown structures (WBS), and resource/cost-loaded programs.
- Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly progress of site activities and compare with planned schedule.
- Identify potential delays, analyze their impact, and propose corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, procurement, and subcontractors for accurate progress data.
- Prepare look-ahead schedules (1-week, 2-week, monthly) for site execution teams.
- Track and monitor material delivery schedules and critical items.
- Generate project progress reports, dashboards, S-curves, cash flow projections, and productivity analysis.
- Assist in preparing extension of time (EOT) claims and delay analysis reports.
- Attend project meetings and present schedule updates and progress status.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, project specifications, and contractual requirements.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Planning Engineer (depending on project scale).
- Strong knowledge of Primavera P6, MS Project, and Excel.
- Good understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and resource planning.
- Strong analytical, communication, and reporting skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of contractual requirements and delay analysis is an advantage.
