Planning Engineer
to manage project schedules and resources effectively.
Position Overview:
The Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules and ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget. This role involves close collaboration with project managers, engineers, and contractors to coordinate activities, identify risks, and maintain control over project timelines. The ideal candidate will have experience in planning and scheduling within the construction or EPC industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Scheduling:

Develop detailed project schedules, including tasks, milestones, and resource allocation, using project management tools.

Monitor and update schedules regularly to reflect actual progress and changes in project scope.

Identify critical paths and ensure all activities align with project deadlines.
Progress Monitoring and Reporting:

Track project progress and performance against established schedules and baselines.

Prepare and present regular progress reports, highlighting delays, risks, and corrective measures.

Provide forecasts and recommendations to ensure projects stay on track.
Resource and Cost Management:

Allocate resources efficiently to optimize productivity and minimize costs.

Monitor resource utilization and adjust plans to meet project demands.

Assist in preparing cost estimates and budgets for project activities.
Risk Analysis and Mitigation:

Identify potential risks that may impact project timelines and propose mitigation strategies.

Conduct delay analysis and prepare recovery plans to address schedule slippages.

Ensure contingency plans are in place for high-risk activities.
Coordination and Collaboration:

Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate planning efforts with project objectives.

Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.

Facilitate effective communication between all parties to ensure alignment on project schedules.
Compliance and Documentation:

Ensure all planning activities comply with contractual requirements and company policies.

Maintain accurate and detailed records of schedules, progress updates, and related documentation.

Support project teams during audits or reviews by providing required planning data.
Continuous Improvement:

Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices in project planning and scheduling.

Suggest improvements to planning processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency.

Provide training and guidance to junior planners and team members.
Qualifications:
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Planning Engineer, preferably within the construction or EPC industry.
Proven experience in developing and managing schedules for large-scale infrastructure or industrial projects.
Key Skills:

Proficiency in project planning tools such as Primavera P6 and MS Project.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address scheduling challenges.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Certifications:

PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 certification is a plus.
