Planning Engineer

The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules to ensure timely completion of construction and infrastructure projects within scope, budget, and quality standards. This role involves critical path analysis, resource planning, progress tracking, and providing data-driven insights to support project decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Scheduling

· Develop detailed baseline project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project

· Break down project scope into work packages and activities (WBS development)

· Establish activity sequences, durations, milestones, and critical paths

· Integrate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases into master schedules

Monitoring & Control

Track actual progress against baseline schedules and analyze variances

Update schedules weekly/monthly with progress data from site teams

Identify potential delays, risks, and bottlenecks; propose mitigation measures

Generate progress reports, S-curves, and lookahead schedules for management review

Stakeholder Coordination

Liaise with engineering, procurement, construction, and subcontractor teams to gather schedule inputs

Support claims and delay analysis documentation when required

Attend project meetings to present schedule status and advise on timeline impacts of changes

Reporting & Documentation

Prepare schedule reports for internal management and client submissions

Maintain schedule documentation in compliance with ISO and company standards

Support project close-out with as-built schedule updates

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field

Master's degree or PMP/PMI-SP certification is a plus

Experience

Minimum 4–6 years of experience in planning/scheduling for infrastructure, civil works, or construction projects

Proven experience with large-scale projects (roads, utilities, buildings, or industrial facilities)

Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Excellent communication and reporting skills (English required; Arabic is a plus for GCC roles)

Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure

Additional Information

May require occasional site visits to verify progress and coordinate with field teams

Position supports compliance with ISO 9001/45001 project management standards
