Planning Engineer – Fit-Out Projects

Job Purpose

The Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules for commercial, retail, hospitality, and high-end fit-out projects across the UAE. The role will ensure projects are delivered on time through effective planning, progress monitoring, resource forecasting, and coordination with project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed project programmes using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
• Develop baseline schedules, procurement schedules, manpower histograms, and recovery programmes.
• Monitor project progress against approved schedules and identify potential delays.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for management and clients.
• Analyse project performance using critical path and earned value techniques.
• Coordinate with project managers, site teams, procurement, design, and subcontractors to ensure programme compliance.
• Review subcontractor programmes and integrate them into the master project schedule.
• Prepare extension of time (EOT) claims and delay analysis when required.
• Track procurement activities and long-lead materials to ensure timely delivery.
• Support tender planning by preparing preliminary programmes and resource plans.
• Participate in project progress meetings and provide schedule updates.
• Identify risks affecting project completion and propose mitigation measures.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related discipline.

Experience

• 5–10 years' planning experience within the UAE construction or fit-out sector.
• Minimum 3 years specifically on interior fit-out projects.
• Experience with commercial offices, hospitality, retail, F&B, and luxury residential fit-out projects preferred.

Technical Skills

• Advanced Primavera P6 skills.
• Strong Microsoft Project and Excel capabilities.
• Knowledge of project controls, scheduling techniques, and delay analysis.
• Understanding of fit-out construction methodologies and sequencing.
• Familiarity with UAE authority approvals and construction processes.
