We are a start-up based out of Bengaluru & Delhi NCR. We are engaged in development of next generation missions and technologies (NGM&T) towards future warfare needs of the Indian defence forces. It is undertaking research towards enhancing persistence and autonomy for unmanned vehicles and robotic swarms. NRT’s product development portfolio includes a solar power stratospheric high altitude pseudo satellite (HAPS) unmanned platform and an air/ground launched stand-off autonomous system.

Job Description: Operations & Production Planning Engineer

Role Overview
The Operations & Production Planning Engineer will be responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient production operations by managing materials, coordinating with SCM and production teams, monitoring schedules, and driving process improvements. This role requires strong analytical skills, cross-functional collaboration, and a proactive approach to problem-solving to ensure timely project execution and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Material Management
  • Analyze current inventory levels as per BOM and transfer available items from free/excess stock to fulfill production orders.
  • Release Purchase Requisitions (PR) for non-stock and shortage items.
  • Work closely with the SCM team to ensure timely placement of Purchase Orders (POs) aligned with delivery schedules.
  • Escalate potential delays to management and facilitate interventions to maintain on-time delivery.
Production Planning & Control
  • Create Manufacturing Work Orders (MWO) for Assembly and Sub-Assembly BOMs.
  • Release Pick Lists or Material Requisitions (MR) in ERP for issuing materials from stores.
  • Follow up with stores for kit readiness and launch production as per the schedule.
  • Prioritize inward materials and coordinate with QC for GRN and inspection to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Monitor and record production progress; escalate any design, capacity, or shortage issues to the Head of Operations.
Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
  • Implement processes for returning excess items through Component Return Notes (CRN) to optimize inventory usage.
  • Encourage continuous improvement by gathering feedback, analyzing performance data, and implementing best practices.
  • Identify potential risks (e.g., supplier disruptions, equipment failures) and develop mitigation and contingency plans.
Coordination & Communication
  • Ensure seamless coordination among Project Management, Design, Production, Quality, Testing, and Logistics teams.
  • Develop and implement risk management and issue mitigation strategies.
  • Communicate operational changes, risks, and corrective actions to relevant stakeholders.
Root Cause & Corrective Action Management
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify underlying issues and define effective corrective actions.
  • Develop and execute action plans to address recurring operational challenges.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of corrective measures and ensure sustained process improvement.
Dispatch & Logistics
  • Close Work Orders, complete draw transactions for assemblies, and move items to FG stock.
  • Coordinate with stores/logistics for final packing and booking vehicles for dispatch.
  • Ensure deliveries meet customer specifications and timelines.
  • Circulate dispatch notifications to Finance for invoice processing.

Qualifications
  • Education: BE/B.Tech in Mechanical or Electronics Engineering (or equivalent discipline).
  • Experience: 5-7 Years of Prior experience in production planning, operations management, or manufacturing coordination preferred.

Required Skills
  • Strong knowledge of Production Planning, BOM Management, and Inventory Control.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle NetSuite or equivalent).
  • Advanced skills in MS Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Excellent analytical, coordination, and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with experience in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action Planning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple priorities effectively.
